POOJA KUMAR SHYAM – an internationally renowned professional
Bharathanatyam dancer is known for her perfection in “Nritta”, good posture, excellent
“araimandi”, clarity in footwork, and her traditional approach in rendering
the art form. Through the picturesque sculpted lines, she brings the beauty of
grace, poise, and vibrance.
Pooja has had her training from eminent gurus in India (Smt. Savithri Jagannatha
Rao, Sri A. Lakshman, & Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan).
In every one of her performances she has won the hearts and praises of her audiences
and connoisseurs alike. Pooja has won numerous awards including the
prestigious “Gutti Vasu Memorial Prize Award” from the 21st Spirit of Youth Competition,
Music Academy (Chennai), first prize winner and the honorable title of
‘Kala Ratna’ at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, and “Lakshmi Vishwanathan
endowment prize for Abhinaya from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha (Chennai) to name a
few. Pooja has been presenting thematic concerts, collaborative presentations, innovative
workshops and lecture demonstrations to enlighten others with this art
form.
Pooja is also a dedicated teacher who takes pride in focusing on the details and
emphasizing perfection and quality in bringing the best in every student.
She has successfully conducted many arangetrams for her students since
2012. She is the artistic director of “NRITHYAPOOJA DANCE ACADEMY” and
conducts classes in the USA.
