This dance depicts the process of self-enhancement known as Kundalini Yoga. kundalini, represented by the serpent, means coiled, like a snake, is a psychospiritual force.

The process of awakening and rising the Kundalini occurs in seven stated of chakras. Each chakra has a symbolic location in the body.

The first chakra, “Mooladhara”, the foundation wheel, is at the base of the spine, which helps in eliminating the first negative trait in human being, which is “Kama” (Desire).

The journey continued up the spinal chord through six more stages: “Swadhistana”, the wheel of self base,  which helps in removing the vice “Krodha” (anger).

The third chakra “Manipura”, the wheel of the jeweled city. The ten point lotus is situated at the navel and is yellow in color. The one who transcends Manipura destroys “Miserliness” in the fire of Manipuram.

The fourth and fifth chakras, “Anaahatha”, the wheel of the untouched melody situated at the heart, and “Visudhi”, the wheel of purity, located at the throat, together creates “Anaahata Naada” (untouched melody) which destroys illusion.

The sixth chakra, “Aajna”, the command wheel, is the final point before liberation and is attained by jnaana (knowledge) and dhyaana (meditation), which helps to remove “Mada-Matsara” (arrogance).

The final chakra, “Sahasraara”, the thousand spoked wheel,  is the source of liberation. The one who crosses the earlier six chakras reaches here devoid of the six vices and beyond the three gunas. This journey brings eternal peace and bliss to the human being who has succeeded on this path.

Kundalini is an energy that exists in everyone’s body, usually in a dormant state. This means that most people never feel it and never know it is there. But in a very few people, perhaps one in one thousand, this energy becomes aroused, activated. This can be a happy event or it can be scary and disruptive, depending on whether you aroused your kundalini on purpose or by accident.
