Synopsis

Geeta Govindam - Eternal Love saga of Radha and Krishna

The Eternal Love story is a work composed by the 12th-century poet, Jayadeva. The Gita Govinda is organized into twelve civided into twenty four divisions called Prabandhas. The prabandhas contain couplets grouped into eights, called Ashtapadis.

Sri Jayadeva is one who illuminates the utmost excellence of Leela of Sri Krishna by his devotion. This literary composition entitled Geet- Govindam attracts the hearts of its audience in the most excellent way. Alternatively, it awakens Sri Krishna's Leelas in the hearts of devotees in the most excellent way, thereby liberating them from the bondage of material existence. The Leelas of Radha and Krishna are the transcendental loving play of the Omnipotent Divinity and his potency

Lalitha lavanga: Vasantha or Spring is the season of rejoicing, of blossoming flowers and love. While awaiting the arrival of Krisha the Gopis revel in the blooming buds of love in nature.

Sanchara Adhara: Krishna is always on Radha’s mind, playing On His flute with the Music is nectar like flowing from his lips. His curly black hair Is decorated With beautiful peacock feathers. She says, “When he is away from me with the other Gopis I may be belittled but he Dominates my mind !

Sakhi He: Radha is tired of this solitude she is beseeches her Sakhi or friend to go and bring Krishna to her. She reminisces about the time she has previously spent with Krishna. How he filled her hearts desire, stole her heart and that she let her hair down and danced in ecstasy with him, who is the Lord, the Lord of all this.

Raas : While Radha is pining for her Krishna, unaware he is dancing and enjoying with all the Gopis

Savira he: Radha’s friends or Sakhis come to Krishna to invite him back to Radha’s abode. The describe her despondency, suffering from pangs of separation and restlessness due to the fever of love. Listening to her friends he is overcome with guilt and grief and sets out to make amends

Mamiyam: Krishna is torn with guilt and is afraid of Radha’s reaction. He is ashamed and sheepish because his wanton ways have caused Radha so much suffering.

Yahi Madhava & Priya Chaarusheele: Oh Krishna ,you appearance shows that you were awake last night. Your eyes are red and tired. It is clear that you spent the previous night with some other woman. Oh Madhava, enough of your false stories no more explanations required. I’m not going to be swayed by your honey dipped lies.

Krishna responds, “Oh Radha, you are my jewel. You are my life. You are like a gem for me. I bow to you. My heart yearns for you. Oh Radha, very touch of your tender feet repels Cupid's wicked attacks. Please pacify my fire of love by keeping your lotus-like feet on my head.”
